[with the Eugene Parametric Society, video by Ivan Kostic]

The Eugene Parametric Society was established in order to investigate new technologies in the realm of digital design and fabrication. The group was especially focused on learning Grasshopper and Rhino to develop forms that could be fabricated with digital tools, such as a CNC mill.

The design for this particular piece was a response to the lack of comfortable seating and space in the gallery at the top of the main stairs in the Architecture building at the University of Oregon. Initial designs for somewhat modular seating provided stiff and uninviting. Our "parasite" built off of the existing geometric forms to provide a more ergonomic seat.
